Bloomberg reported that AMR told a bankruptcy judge that its reorganization plan should be approved even though the U.S. Justice Department has sued to block a merger with US Airways that underpins the plan.

Bloomberg notes that AMR, the parent company of American Airlines, said in a court filing, that waiting to resolve the government’s antitrust case would be “destabilizing.”

In a press release, AMR and US Airways said they have a filed a motion with the court requesting a trial date of November 12, 2013.
